Exchanging Safety Data to Enhance Safety
Securely exchanging data between State CVIEWs and FMCSA’s SAFER database is the foundation of FMCSA’s ITD program. About ITD
High Priority (HP) ITD Grant Funding
The Innovative Technology Deployment (ITD) discretionary grant provides financial and technical assistance to States to advance their technological capability and promote the deployment of intelligent transportation system applications for CMV operations, including CMV, commercial driver, and carrier-specific information systems and networks; and to support and maintain CMV information systems and networks.
Funding to Bring Cutting-Edge Technology Within States’ Reach
States identify their own technology priorities and needs and the ITD safety innovations experts help States leverage the most appropriate tools.
ITD grant funding is often used to:
- Link Federal motor carrier safety information systems with State CMV systems.
- Improve safety and productivity of CMVs and commercial drivers.
- Reduce costs associated with CMV operations and regulatory requirements.
