Data Quality

The ITD Support Team has worked with the ITD Architecture Configuration Control Board (ACCB) to develop data quality measures, standards, and evaluation methodologies. These are meant to highlight strength areas, as well as areas for improvement for States to address.

Evaluating Data Quality

Data quality is a top priority of FMCSA and the ITD Program. FMCSA continually works with States to identify and resolve data quality issues.

The ITD Support Team evaluates the quality of IRP and IFTA data uploaded by CVIEW-certified States to SAFER based on five performance measures:

  1. Timeliness
  2. Completeness
  3. Accuracy
  4. Validity
  5. Baseline Frequency

For each measure, and overall, ITD States are assigned a rating of either Poor, Fair, or Good.

The results of each month’s data quality evaluation are shared in a report.

The previous 12 months of ITD State Data Quality Evaluation Reports are below. If you need a report that is older than 12 months, you can contact ITDSupport@dot.gov.
